The institutional challenge

POCT is decentralized. Accountability is not.

Testing happens close to the patient, often beyond the day-to-day control of the central laboratory. Yet the organization still needs consistent governance, evidence, training, quality, and oversight.

Without a unified operating model, departments can accumulate different procedures, fragmented records, uneven competency practices, and preventable readiness risk. Align brings the program into one clear system designed around how healthcare teams actually work.

Angela Gamble · Founder & Principal Consultant

“The testing may be distributed. The standard of care, quality, and accountability cannot be.”

Built from inside the work

More than a consultant. A career shaped by laboratory discipline.

Angela Gamble brings 21 years of point-of-care testing experience to Align. Her professional foundation includes nine years working in the U.S. Army laboratory and five years in education. She now serves as Director of Ancillary Testing Services, bringing together laboratory discipline, teaching, operational leadership, and the realities of managing decentralized testing.

That perspective spans frontline testing, operational leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, quality systems, technology, education, and the realities of maintaining standards across decentralized care settings.

Align was created around a recurring gap: POCT often operates outside the central laboratory’s physical walls, but it still needs laboratory-grade structure.

How we engage

One methodology. Three levels of support.

Begin with the level of support your organization needs today, then expand only when the evidence and priorities justify it.

01

Program Assessment & Strategic Roadmap

A structured review of your POCT environment, operating model, documentation, training, quality systems, and readiness priorities.

Outcome A clear current-state picture, risk-prioritized findings, and an actionable roadmap.

Typical engagement: 2–4 weeks

02

Implementation & Program Optimization

Hands-on support to build, repair, or standardize governance, workflows, procedures, validation planning, competency systems, and technology coordination.

Outcome A stronger, more consistent program designed for real clinical operations.

Typical engagement: 8–16 weeks

03

Managed POCT Program Support

Ongoing expert oversight for quality review, documentation, training, issue triage, corrective-action support, and continuous improvement.

Outcome Sustained readiness without carrying every specialized need internally.

Typical engagement: 6–12 months

Align Intelligence · in development

Expert knowledge that becomes more useful over time.

Align is developing a governed knowledge system that captures Angela’s methodology, connects guidance to its source, and supports repeatable delivery without replacing expert judgment.

The first phase supports education, structured intake, readiness checklists, and draft analysis using approved content. Complex recommendations remain expert-led, and the initial model does not accept PHI or patient information.

Foundational · AI-supported

Education, intake, checklists, source retrieval, and structured documentation.

Review required · Expert-validated

Gap summaries, roadmaps, draft procedures, and organization-specific analysis.

Human-led · Angela accountable

Complex interpretation, final recommendations, and professional judgment.

A better commercial model

Pay for progress — not open-ended consulting hours.

Align scopes work around defined outcomes, milestones, and deliverables. Assessment and implementation engagements use fixed-fee proposals; ongoing support is structured as a monthly or annual partnership.

  • Fixed-fee assessments
  • Milestone-based implementation
  • Managed-support retainers
  • Enterprise annual agreements

Common questions

What healthcare leaders need to know.

Who does Align work with?

Align is designed for hospitals, health systems, ambulatory networks, urgent care organizations, specialty clinics, and other healthcare organizations operating point-of-care testing across one or many locations.

Do we have to begin with a full implementation?

No. Most organizations should begin with the Program Assessment & Strategic Roadmap. It creates a shared fact base and prevents a large engagement from being scoped around assumptions.

Does Align replace our laboratory or POCT leadership?

No. Align strengthens internal leadership with specialized assessment, implementation capacity, operating structure, and ongoing expert support. Your organization retains its required responsibilities and decision authority.

How is AI used?

Align is developing an expert-governed knowledge system to support structured intake, education, checklists, source-grounded research, and draft analysis. Complex recommendations and final professional judgment remain human-led. The initial model does not accept patient information or PHI.
